Barclaycard Seeks to Make OnePulse Integral to Our Future

In a bid to create a mass of marketing hype around it's new OnePulse credit card, Barclaycard have launched a site they've called What's The Future Collective.

On the site Barclaycard ask us to contemplate the future of London and in doing this seeks to secure the OnePulse card's presence in it.

With the likes of Big Brother 7's Pete Bennett being invited to post his thoughts on the future, Barclaycard are casting the net wide to bring their innovative new product to as big a market as possible.

But if the new Oyster OnePulse card lives up to the Hype I suspect those forward thinking minds out there on the net will have already imagined what they could do with the technology and the card will indeed sell itself.

According to TranSys figures, the Oyster brand has 45% unprompted brand awareness and is now one of the most recognised brands in London. It's reportedly loved by commuters who value the way it has improved their travel around London.

Like any good design, utilising innovative technology the Oyster cards fit seemlessly into the lives of millions of Londoners. With 8 million journeys in the capital every day using the Oyster system the future of Barclaycard's OnePulse card looks very bright indeed.

New Barclaycard OnePulse brings Oyster convenience to London's shoppers

According to Transport for London website London is about to experience another huge technological leap forward thanks to the success of it's Oyster card.

In partnership with TranSys and Barclaycard, Transport for London have announced the launch of Barclaycard OnePulse.

This unique 3-in-1 card combines Oyster with credit card and cashless payment facilities.

The Barclaycard OnePulse card allows passengers to take advantage of all the benefits that Oyster offers: cheap, quick and convenient travel on the buses, Tube, DLR and trams.

The OnePulse card also allows customers to pick up a coffee and newspaper on the way to work and pay for it using the OneTouch contactless payment system. With reduced congestion in Tube stations thanks to Oyster cards allowing 40 people to pass through gates each minute the future is bright when it comes to implementing the same system in shops through out the capital.

This "wave and pay"(TM) technology can be used for buying everyday items, costing less than £10, by simply touching the card on a special reader, designed and developed by TranSys, at thousands of outlets across the capital.

Shashi Verma, Director of fares and ticketing for TfL, says “ This innovative partnership with Barclaycard is another way that Oyster technology can make life more convenient for Londoners, providing them with not only cheaper, easier and more convenient travel but also the ability to make low cost transactions on everyday items.”

The Oyster in a OnePulse card works just like a regular Oyster card and can be topped up like a pay-as-you-go card or can have up to three Travelcards or Bus Pass season tickets loaded onto it.

Barclaycard OnePulse is the first major licensing venture of Oyster for TranSys, with the full support of TfL. This follows successful trials of the card earlier in 2007.
